Obituary

Richard Lane Jinks 53 of El Dorado passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. He was born March 26, 1960 in El Dorado. He is the son of the late Clyde Jinks and Virginia Ruth Hall Jinks.

Richard loved the Lord. He was a member of Marrable Hill Chapel but had been attending Scotland Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Junction City with his wife who is the choir director and organist. He would hunt squirrels and rabbits and loved to deer hunt but never ducks and turkeys. He enjoyed being outdoors especially in the woods. His grandchildren were his joy. Richard was known by many names; daddy, dad, papaw, uncle, brother-in-law, son-in-law, friend, and Rich but the most famous one was "Danky". Believe it or not Richard was the smallest kid on the street.
As an artist, he loved painting with water color, some oil paintings and a lot of pencil/pen drawings. Being the artist he was , he could draw out anything in 3 dimensions on paper and show it to you. He did that a lot with the ideas that he had. His father was a master carpenter and Richard picked up on that ability as well. He worked on his equipment, learned to weld and made repairs on whatever needed it. Richard could do anything that he set his mind to. That is why one of his sayings was "Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly until you can do it well".
Richard loved doing yard work. He said it was "therapeutic". He started singing this little song every spring "Mowing is my business, and business is good"! He loved the smell of freshly cut grass and all that knew him will miss him dearly!

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Martha Rose Smith.

Survivors include his wife; Johnette Owens Jinks, sons; Michael Lane Jinks and wife Marta, Josh Randall Bobbitt and fiancé`, Adrianne Jackson and his daughter; Jessica Perry and husband Billy all of El Dorado. 7 grandchildren; Madison Jinks, Kennedy Langston, Jalyn Upshaw, Declan Bobbitt, Adrian Perry, Benjamin Perry, Chloe Perry and another Perry on the way in June, a sister; Georgine Mello and husband Tony of Junction City, Ar and a brother; Douglas Nelson and wife Pat of Prattville, Alabama, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Memorial services will be 6pm Thursday January 9, 2014 at Marrable Hill Chapel with Revs. Ben Wasson, Sam Shepperson and Terry Harrison officiating under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels. Cremation services were entrusted to Perry's Funeral Chapels.
