ROBERT L. (BOB) CALHOUN, SR.
Passed away Friday, January 22, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Little Rock after a long and courageous
bout with cancer. He was born in Oak Grove, LA, on 12/5/38 the son of Joe Y. and Estelle Danley Calhoun.
Bob spent over three decades in law enforcement and retired as Chief of Detectives with El Dorado Police Dept. and as Chief Investigator with Union County Sheriff's Office. He was a member of Third Street Baptist Church in Arkadelphia and former member of Urbana Baptist Church of Urbana.
He was predeceased in death by his father, first wife Gloria Flenniken Calhoun, and his sister Susan Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Thurman Calhoun of Arkadelphia; a son, CDR Robert L. Calhoun, Jr., USN, and wife Dr. Alice Ann Calhoun of St. Michaels MD; mother, Estelle Danley Johnson of Cabot AR; granddaughters, Margaret and Amelia Calhoun of Round Rock TX; sister, Annette Pagan of Cabot; brothers, Thomas Calhoun (Shirley) of Cabot AR, and Joseph Y. Calhoun, Jr. (Winnell) of Cave City AR; stepdaughter & son-in-law, Terry and Dr. Noland Hagood, Jr.; step grandsons, Daniel and Joshua Hagood of Arkadelphia AR, first mother-in-law Lorene Flenniken and sister-in-law Wanda Cardinal of El Dorado. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters-in-Law, and many friends.
Funeral will be Monday, January 25, 2010, at 3PM at Urbana Baptist Church with Bro Ricky Watts officiating. Burial will follow in the Urbana Cemetery under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels of El Dorado.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 24, 2010 6 til 8PM at Perry's Funeral Chapels in El Dorado.
