Robert (Bob) C. Sumners, Jr., 71, of El Dorado, went to be with his heavenly father on June 22, 2011, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado following a lengthy illness.
He was born February 8, 1940, to Robert C. Sumners, Sr. and Mary Louise Sumners in Osceola, AR. Bob retired from the State of Arkansas, having worked as an inspector and also having worked in the restaurant business prior to that. He also served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of El Dorado Missionary Baptist Church and the American Legion. Bob was a funny, loving, caring, and compassionate father, "Pawpaw" and friend. He was also a devoted Razorback fan.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister, Mary Bratton Sumners Watson.
Survivors include his wife, Pat L. Sumners; four daughters, Shelle Sumners and her husband, Lee Morgan, of Newtown, Pennsylvania; Stacey Lynch and her husband, Tad, of Houston, Texas; Carrie Sumners, also of Houston, Texas; Tricia Hammons and her husband, Michael, of El Dorado; one stepson, Steven Hill, of Green Bay, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Dustin Lynch, Nikki Lynch, Lucy Rose Morgan, Jordyn Cottrell, Chase Cottrell and Ethan Hammons; one great grandson, Caden Lynch; brother- and sister-in-law, Alvin and Peggy Turbeville; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Perry's Funeral Chapels.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2011 at El Dorado Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Hudson and Rev. Nick Barnett officiating. Burial will follow at Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels
