Obituary

Roger D. "Poppie" Hargett, age 50, passed on March 28, 2016. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Jason Nelson of El Dorado, AR, his son and daughter-in-law, RJ and Amanda Hargett of El Dorado, AR, four grandchildren, Riya and Raevyn Nelson and Suellen and Zackary Hargett, two sisters, Lisa (Mike) Allison of El Dorado, AR, Penny (Richard) Goza of El Dorado, AR, and one brother, Ricky (Shelley) Hargett of El Dorado, AR, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mildred "Millie" Hargett- Moore and his grandmother, Lessie Delle Hargett, and his grandfather, C.W. Hargett.
He was born on February 6, 1966 in El Dorado, AR to Mildred "Millie" Hargett- Moore. He graduated from Union High School among many friends. Roger was a family man who loved fishing, hunting, mudding and gardening. He got his green thumb from his mother. He loved spending time with his family and cooking for them. You would never go hungry if you were spending time with Roger.
Poppie loved his grandbabies! They were the light of his life and his pride and joy. Not to mention all of his adopted grandbabies. The grandkids always said he was funny and made them laugh. No matter where Poppie went, he brought the energy to the room. Anytime he walked in, he was the life of the party. You couldn't be around him and not laugh or smile.
His family and friends will remember him as a simple man with a big heart who loved so many people. He touched so many lives and never met a stranger. Anyone that came into contact with him became family. He would go out of his way to help anyone. Roger was never one to ask for anything. He lived in the moment and didn't worry about much. He will be missed by so many people. If he were here now, he would tell people not to worry, just "get 'er done."
Visitation will be Friday, April 1st at Perry's Funeral Home from 6-8 pm. The service is scheduled for Saturday, April 2nd at Union Baptist Church in Old Union at 1:00. Pallbearers will be: Dwayne Spencer, Jason Bell, Mark DeVault, Rodney Wilson, Scott Lacy and Tommy Guinn
