Rose Ellen (Robert) Hohenberger, 79, passed away on October 1, 2020. She was born in El Dorado on September 11, 1941, to Pauline and Frank Robert. Rose was a master artist, an oil painter who specialized in realism.

She loved painting landscapes of the Texas Hill Country and the Gulf Coast. She had a fascination and tender compassion for animals, apparent in her lifelike studies of horses, seagulls, and big cats, and in her portraits of treasured pets. She also painted humans in their natural habitats, with respect, humor, and elegance.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved brother Frank, his wife Shirley, and their daughter Erin.

Rose is survived by her daughters Shelle, Stacey, and Carrie and their husbands Lee, David, and Mahmoud; her grandchildren Dustin, Nikki, and Lucy Rose and her great-grandson Caden; her nieces Barbie and Julie and her nephew Steve; her stepdaughters Anne, Robin, and Cathy; and many extended family members and devoted lifelong friends.

About painting, Rose said, "For me, the easel is a kind of altar. There, I'm able to communicate my wonder and gratitude for the magnificence of this world—my prayer to the universe."

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 6, 2020 with Bro. David Bush officiating at Woodlawn Cemetery.  Burial will follow under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels.
