April 18, 1940 – July 31, 2024
Kenneth H. "Sather" Bruguiere, age 84, took his last flight and is now soaring with the angels. Sather passed away Wednesday July 31, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. Sather was born April 18, 1940 in Oakland CA to Kathleen Huntingdon and Francis Bruguiere. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Patricia Ballad; sister in-law Kim Johnson and his best friend Tom Garrett. Sather graduated from Piedmont High School and joined the United States Army shortly after graduation. After the military he returned to California and earned his degree at San Francisco State, and began the process of earning his pilot license. He began his flying career with TWA and flew the next 30 years throughout the world. He retired from UPS in 2000 as a check airmen on the DC8 and 747. After retiring Sather was able to devote his time to his art, photography and family. He especially loved cross-country road trips and camping in the National parks. Those left to cherish his memory include: his loving wife of thirty-eight years Kelly Johnson Bruguiere; two daughters Lily Fox-Bruguiere (Anthony) of Charlottesville, VA; Lila Bruguiere (Brian) of Honolulu, HI; one son Hunter Bruguiere of Denver, CO; two granddaughters Naomi and Claudia Fox, one sister Kathleen Anderson (Richard) of Charlotte, NC; three nieces Amy Ballad, Heather Wilz and Christy Anderson. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
