December 2, 1945 – March 3, 2019
Dr. Alvin Scott Hardin, 73, of El Dorado passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. He was born December 2, 1945 to the late Alvin and Edna Louise Gann Hardin in Camden, AR. Upon graduation from Camden High School he attended Ouachita Baptist University. From OBU he then entered the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Dr. Hardin also served his country as a Physician in the Air Force reaching the rank of Major during the Vietnam War. His service to others continued when he returned home. Dr. Hardin began to practice Internal Medicine and Non Invasive Cardiology in El Dorado and continued to do so for 37 years. In addition to his medical practice he was an Associate Professor and Adjunct faculty member for the AHEC Program in El Dorado for which he was voted most valuable professor a number of times. Dr. Hardin was an active member of First United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir for 40 years, taught Sunday school for over 35 years and started the Home Repair Missions Team. He enjoyed nature, horseback riding and his pets.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; and father-in-law, Ben McCurry.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Hardin; children, Christopher Scott Hardin (Natalie), Sally Margaret Kuhn (Karl), Emily Elizabeth Sutterfield (Ragan), Matthew Benjamin Moore (Bethany), and Emily Anne McClenahan (Scott); mother-in-law, Carolyn McCurry; grandchildren, Sam and Zoey Hardin, Allysa Ladd, Sara, Alexander and Noah Kuhn, Lilly and Lucia Sutterfield, Micah Moore, and Hunter Cheatham; and first cousin, Margaret Ann Robberson (Ray).
Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at First United Methodist Church with Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 AM. Service to by officiated by David Bush and Jim Polk, followed by Interment at Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels.
Serving as Pallbearers are Ragan Sutterfield, Matthew Moore, Karl Kuhn, Mark Carpenter, Chris Hardin, Herman Hill, Bob Stephenson, Mike Morrison, Harvey Post, and John Lusk. Honorary Pallbearers are Members of Men's Fraternity and Home Repair Mission Team.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church Missions Committee.
