Shirley Francis Dumas Gunter, 73, of Hodge, La went to meet her Lord March 30, 2013 after a short illness. She was born and raised in El Dorado, Ark.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Ellis Dumas and Ellie Gertrude Harrell Dumas; her husband, James Henry Gunter; 3 brothers, Roy, Ralph, and Alfred Dumas; and a sister, Aline Dumas. She is survived by her children, Trudi Gunter-Decker(Terry) of Arlington, Tx; James Gunter(Jennifer) of West Monroe, La; Miriam Gunter of Chatham, La; Catherine Gunter Spillers(Tony) of West Monroe, La; granddaughters Kalynn and Brittany Spillers, Macy Robertson, and Karen Lozano; grandsons Trae and Aidan Spillers; and 2 sisters Dorothy Dumas Marks and Patricia Dumas Mills both of El Dorado, Ar. and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley attended Ozark Academy in Gentry, Ar and attended Union College in Lincoln, Ne. She spent many years in the education field as a substitute teacher. She was a long-time member of Westlake Seventh-Day Adventist Church in West Monroe, La and later in life she became a member of Hodge Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Monday at Perry's Funeral Chapels
Funeral Services will be 2pm Tuesday at Perry's Funeral Chapels
Burial will be at Rehobeth Cemetery.
