Obituary

In the predawn hours of January 16, 2022, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas, Susie Ann Graves of Strong Arkansas went peacefully to join her Heavenly Father at the age of 76.

She was a diligent worker for her Lord and savior Jesus Christ throughout her life. She was a proud and active member of Union Chapel in Strong until her passing. She was born Susie Ann Norsworthy in Oil City, Texas to Grottice and Verlie Ann Norsworthy. She spent her childhood living in Strong Arkansas and traveling with her mother and father following the Drilling machines Grottice worked on. She graduated Strong High School in 1963. Susie married the love of her life William "Harold" Graves in Strong on April 18, 1964. She gave birth to her beloved daughter, Lindi Delain Graves on June 24, 1969, in El Dorado Arkansas.

Susie was known for her amazing cooking abilities that lead her to opening the Susie's Chicken Shack and Sweets Shop. It was an endeavor of love that she and Harold had together. Long after it closed, she still made wedding cakes and pastries for events and family. Even having one of her favorite cakes being featured in a magazine.  She spent 20 years running the kitchen at Strong School. The countless children she fed at the school and she knew by name or by meal preference can testify to the love she put into the simplest of things. Whether you knew her cooking from the Chicken Shack, some of her many wedding cakes, the Strong School, or the food she prepared for the church potluck. Anyone she fed didn't leave anyway but happy and full. You could feel the love and enjoyment she put into her time in the kitchen and the dishes she created there. Her love of cooking was one she loved to share with her children and grandchildren in the many hours she spent with them making meals and treats alike. Her Family was one of the greatest joys in her life, she made a habit of spoiling any grandchild or child that had the pleasure of her attention. She left many generations that will feel the loss of her for a very long time. Whether you knew her as Susie, Ms. Susie, Sue Sue, Mamaw or Mother. You knew that she loved you and cared for everyone she came in contact with.

Susie was preceded in death by her Grandparents Frank and Annie Norsworthy and Issac and Millie Worthey. Her Father Grottice Norsworthy and her Mother Verlie Ann Worthey Norsworthy. Brother-in-law Bobby Graves. Also, the love of her life, soul mate, friend and husband William "Harold" Graves.

Susie is survived by 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild and many other family and friends. Daughter Lindi Graves Richey and husband Trey of Strong. Lindi and Trey's two sons Chad Richard Alphin wife, Kimberly and William Michael Richey. Chad and Kimberly's children Adrian, Gabriel, Elizabeth, Isabelle, Sophia, and Waylon.
