Obituary

Wayne Massey 65, of Strong died Friday October 5, 2012 at Baptist Hospital. He was born June 28, 1947 in Strong. He is the son of the late John Cecil Massey and Eunice Wells Massey. He was a carpenter by trade and a veteran .

Wayne loved traveling and cooking, especially barbecuing. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time and being involved with his church activities. His favorite pastime was to sit on his porch drinking coffee and watching the stars. But most of all he loved his family who will dearly miss him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law W.A and Ruth Keaster, brothers, J.C (goober) Massey, and Tommy Massey.

Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Lissie Massey, daughters, Theresa (Tess) Wooten (Greg) and Melissa French, son, Johnathan Wayne Massey, grandchildren, Blake Wooten, Kaitlyn French and Logan French and a great grandchild Chanler Rodgers, brothers Alvin Massey (Helen), Earnest Ray Massey (Gina), sisters, Shirley Crawford, Martha Jane Wallace, and Diane Fairris (James), and a lifelong friend, Wimp Ward(Debbie)

Church services will be held at 10am Monday October 8, 2012 at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Danny Malone and Blake Wooten officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be, Brandon Keaster, Timmy Massey, Chance Massey, Jamie Fairris, Bill Webb, and Corey Massey. Serving as honorary will be Curt Fairris. Burial will be at Green Grove Chapel cemetery under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Sunday at the church.
